Salary Range: $59,568.60 - $69,833.40

Location: Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (on the Yonge subway line)

Overview:


Are you passionate about designing best-in-class digital experiences? Is user-centred design second nature to you? Do you enjoy working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment? Do you thrive in environments of constant change? If so, we’d love to have a conversation.


You will work across TVO’s digital learning, current affairs and documentary offerings. Reporting to the Manager of Product Design and UX, you will be responsible for digital design to enhance existing TVO experiences big and small — and to create new ones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the visual design/creative concepts and user interactions for TVO’s websites, ecommerce experiences, online digital education experiences, mobile apps, landing pages, microsites, E-mail campaigns, social media, e-commerce/web banners and other digital initiatives
  • Work within the Design and U/X team and with other cross-functional stakeholders, including developers, to bring to life best-in-class online experiences
  • Optimize U/I and U/X based on best practices, user learning and A/B testing
  • Demonstrate strong visual aesthetic in color, flow, typography, balance and proportion, space, and interactive design
  • Understand our users and target audiences to inform visual design direction
  • Create prototypes and style guides
  • Contribute to the broader development of the TVO brand through various digital design projects
  • Support and establish best-in-class creative output and ideas
  • Keep team apprised of design trends and best practices
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in broad range of digital design projects
  • Strong digital portfolio that demonstrates your visual design skills in a variety of mediums (web, mobile, social, motion) and a solid understanding of responsive and adaptive design
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator; UX tools such as Sketch, AE are a plus
  • Must know HTML and CSS at a competency level to fully grasp the technical limitations they impose
  • Knowledgeable of key features of at least one well-adopted CSS framework such as Bootstrap or Foundation
  • Understand web/CSS animation and the user experience benefits of tasteful application
  • Ability to create and clearly annotate wireframes and functional prototypes
  • An understanding of what makes outstanding copy for digital marketing is a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of AODA compliance is a plus
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and/or JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience working within Agile teams is a plus
  • Effective listening and capacity to communicate design solutions within the cross-functional team and at various technical levels
  • Proven ability to be a team player
  • Able to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Openness to take art and technical direction from the team
  • A Strong self-starter with excellent time management, organization and multi-tasking skills
  • A commitment to constant learning
