310T Mechanic ($39.29/hour) At Transdev

Location: Vaughan, Ontario

Job Description

Overview

Transdev, world’s premiere public transportation company providing service under contract to YRT in York Region and we are currently looking for 3 enthusiastic 310T Mechanics/Apprentices. Transdev is the largest private sector operator of multiple modes of passenger transit in North America, providing bus, rail, paratransit, shuttle, sedan and taxi services. We manage over 200 transportation contracts for cities, transit authorities and airports, providing safe and sustainable mobility solutions. Responsibilities

  • Adjust and reline air and hydraulic brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Align front ends (where applicable) and service suspension systems.
  • Attach test instruments to equipment, and read dials and gauges in order to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Must be qualified to install or rebuild diesel engines.
  • Repair and adjust seats, doors, and windows, and install and repair accessories.
  • Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels. Able to work on multiplex systems.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Must be qualified to repair and maintain parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems.
  • Test drive trucks and buses to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Have appropriate driver’s license for facilities needs or the ability to obtain one.
  • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists (where applicable for your specific location).
  • Other duties as directed and or assigned, to include and to ensure the safe operation and efficiency of the department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, repetitive hand wrist motion. Some repetitive knee bending and twisting is involved.
  • Some climbing, lifting, walking, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials will be required.
  • 90 % of work will be in the garage repair bay or bus storage environment, with some outdoor activities which may involve inclement weather.
  • Will be exposed to dirt and fumes.

Qualifications

Starting pay for a 310T Mechanic is $39.29 per hour.

Applicant for this job must be registered 310T Mechanic with Ontario College of Trades, hold a valid Class G or better Ontario Drivers Licence without demerit points.

Applicants will be required to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, repetitive hand and wrist motion. Some repetitive knee bending, twisting, climbing, lifting, walking, balancing, stooping and handling of materials will be required.
