Staff Accountant II At Taylor Morrison

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

As a Staff Accountant II working for Taylor Morrison you will work under management’s direction, perform professional accounting work including the examination, analysis, maintenance, reconciliation and verification of financial records, and related duties as required. Additionally, perform accurate and efficient accounts payable processing, and ensure accounting records are organized and fully auditable.

Job Details

We trust that as a Staff Accountant II you will: (responsibilities)

  • Process home closing journal entries including revenue recognition, cost allocations & commission computations

  • Manage daily cash activity including recordation of earnest money, deposits, wires & reconciling bank accounts

  • Assist in preparation & maintenance of account reconciliations

  • Perform month end responsibilities including, but not limited to, preparing journal entries, Inter-company reconciliation & lease accounting

  • Track & process sales commissions in conjunction with bi-weekly payroll input

  • Assist in preparing weekly reports & distribution of division management & corporate office

  • Ad-Hoc duties & special projects as assigned by Division Controller and VP Finance

  • Assist with internal & external audit requests as needed

  • A dditionally, perform accurate and efficient journal entry and accounts payable processing, and ensure accounting records are organized and fully auditable

  • Other duties as assigned

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong desire to learn accounting skills in the homebuilding industry
  • 1-2 years' staff accountant experience
  • Computer literacy, including strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Credit report in good standing

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Will have responsibilities such as:

  • This position is considered a non-exempt position for purposes of wage-hour law, which means that you will be required to keep a time record and will be eligible for overtime pay.

  • Report to Division/Corporate Office/Community daily and adhere to schedule
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device
  • Ability to have face to face conversations with customers, co-workers and higher level manager
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as needed
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle if applicable
  • Comply with company policies and procedure

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Taylor Morrison experience and/or successful completion of training program may override required education and/or experience requirement.
