Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
The Accountant handles a broad area of accounting responsibilities including general ledger, cash management and banking, and management reporting.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Performs ad hoc analysis of accounting transactions, operational performance and balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintains bank accounts and reports daily on reconciled cash.
  • Performs banking transactions, including wire transfers, ACH payments and deposits, desktop deposits and account transfers.
  • Prepares cash forecasting as needed.
  • Prepares complex journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Assists in calculating monthly accruals and allocations, including but not limited to, prepaids, freight program accruals, and reserves.
  • Provides support for accurate and timely preparation of financial and management reports.
  • Maintains accurate fixed assets system and all related reporting requirements.
  • Performs monthly depreciation of fixed assets.
  • Prepares various account reconciliations, including monthly balance sheet accounts.
  • Makes continuing comparison between budgeted and actual performance.
  • Assists in preparing monthly financial package.
  • Prepares information in support of annual external audit, including preparation of schedules.
  • Supports and manages various AR accounts for intercompany billings, special projects and sales, as needed.
  • Prepares property tax returns.
  • Prepares GST tax returns for Australia and Canada.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (four year college or university) Three to five years of accounting experience, previous Staff Accountant experience required. CPA or candidate preferred.

Computer Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Ability to learn new software applications as needed. Knowledge of accounting, banking, inventory and manufacturing software and FAS Best Fixed Asset Software. Proficient in ten-key operation.

Other Requirements: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their proper application to manufacturing as well as general business transactions. Knowledge of general protocol and procedure pertaining to area.
