Brand Manager At Planet Foods Inc

Job Description

PLANET FOODS Brand Manager

Planet Foods was started in 1995 and operates across Canada. Our focus is in developing category leaders, through our true brand development approach, often well before the category trends hit market. The products we represent are natural, organic and support healthy and active lifestyles and we work closely with our clients to develop their brand to its full potential.

Position:

The Brand Manager leads in the management of their assigned vendor partners and all aspects of their products including brand vision, brand position and brand plans. This person will serve as a strategic business partner to the brands and are responsible for understanding the Principal’s business, promotions and pricing strategies.

The Brand Manager is tasked with the success of their brands and they must focus on developing a brand’s top and bottom line for the brand and Planet Foods.

The Brand Manager must have an analytical and critical thinking mindset. They require excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, superior Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint and strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work. This person should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment which requires a multi-tasking skill set.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Brand Principals to establish the “go to market’ strategies.
  • Work with and communicate with the Sales team to flawlessly execute the brand’s initiatives.
  • Monitor, analyze and track key metrics and apply customer research, trends and insights to programs, sharing this information with the Brand and Sales Team to help in executing Brand plans.
  • Develop and communicate forecasts internally as well as to the Brand Principal.
  • Communicate with the Brand Principle on a regular basis to keep them updated on their Brand performance. Devise, advise and communicate course-correction strategies if required.
  • Perform regular analysis/audits of competitor’s brands to liaise with Brand Principals regarding price, product, promotion and placement.
  • Develop and monitor the trade investment and marketing support plan to ensure the Brand’s success in the market-place. Regular analysis and monitoring of the trade investment is critical.
  • Negotiate cost agreements with suppliers that stay within the company’s margin, guidelines and policies in order to ensure Planet Foods profit recovery.

Qualifications and experience:

  • College or University degree preferred
  • Superior Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • 5 years of CPG Trade Marketing or Key Account experience (natural/organic preferred)
