Senior HR Business Partner At Plains Midstream Canada

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Job Description

Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). PMC also operates strategically-located facilities for crude oil and NGL storage, separates NGL from natural gas and fractionates NGL into pure liquid petroleum gas (LPG) products, including propane and butane.

We are looking for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner with an exceptional track record of success partnering with executives and leaders to develop, and implement sharp, pragmatic HR solutions to enable better business results. You will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with senior leaders in Finance, and IS to get in front of their business issues, thinking critically to help leaders understand risks and opportunities to get the best results with their people, through their people;

  • Building strong relationships with various client groups to ensure HR and business strategies are aligned;

  • Identifying and coaching leaders to action the talent needs of their business unit, to ensure the business can meet their objectives;

  • Helping build leadership capability in the business;

  • Collaborating with the business and HR Centers of Expertise (COE’s) and Shared Service Teams to ensure strong alignment between HR strategies, programs, policies, processes and procedures;

  • Supporting the consistent and effective implementation of workforce planning, intake/staffing, learning, talent, performance, compensation and career management processes within the business;

  • Proactively determining the people implications of any business changes being implemented;

  • Building trust with leaders in order to influence transformative change to achieve business results;

  • Analyzing trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop effective solutions in support of the business;

  • Working closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention; and

  • Engaging HR COEs collaboratively and before business decision are made to ensure the department can effective and efficiently implement solutions that work.

Our ideal candidate is a business-minded HR professional with a track record of partnering with senior leaders to drive high employee engagement and exceptional business results. Some travel will be required in these roles.


Qualifications :

  • Ten or more years of senior human resources generalist experience, including a track record of developing, enhancing and implementing thoughtful and effective HR strategies that drive high employee engagement and business results;

  • Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business or related discipline;

  • Solid business and financial acumen, to enable partnering with leaders to enhance safety, operational excellence, profitability, grow the business, and set organizational policies with an appreciation for their business impact;

  • Skilled in consultative, collaborative problem-solving techniques;

  • Strong strategic business planning and budgeting skills;

  • Proven project management skills;

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;

  • Resilient with high emotional intelligence;

  • Unquestioned integrity;

  • Excellent knowledge of current employment and human rights legislation;

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and shifting priorities;

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills are an asset;

  • Labour Relations knowledge and experience with Unions is an asset;

  • CPHR (or similar) designation, or working towards, would be an asset;

  • Workday experience is an asset; and

Demonstrated ability to;

  • Quickly develop and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders;

  • Consult and coach senior leaders;

  • Collaborate across business lines from individual contributors to Executives;

  • Understand business needs, evolving business models and influence change as a trusted advisor/subject matter expert;

  • Lead change management initiatives; and

  • Deal with confidential issues in a sensitive, efficient and professional manner.
