Pipeline Integrity Engineer At Plains Midstream Canada

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Job Description

Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). PMC also operates strategically-located facilities for crude oil and NGL storage, separates NGL from natural gas and fractionates NGL into pure liquid petroleum gas (LPG) products, including propane and butane.

Plains Midstream Canada has a career opportunity for a Pipeline Integrity Engineer. The main role of the Asset Integrity Projects team is to implement inspection and repair programs for crude, condensate, and NGL pipelines. In this role the Pipeline Integrity Engineer would oversee several projects each year. The ideal candidate should have both project management and asset integrity experience.

Reporting to the Manager, Pipeline Integrity - Projects, the individual’s responsibilities include the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee the execution of ILI inspection programs for an area or region;
  • Plan and oversee the execution of dig programs for an area or region to:

– Assess other pipeline defects such as dents and stress corrosion cracks;

– Assess effectiveness of external and internal corrosion monitoring and mitigation programs;

  • Plan and oversee the execution of watercourse mitigations and depth of cover surveys;
  • Ensure that geotechnical and hydrotechnical inspection are conducted as required;
  • Coordinate depth of cover surveys and execute the recommended mitigation;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of GIS and risk assessment applications;
  • Report overall plan on a regular basis to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Provide support and expert advice to other teams on integrity matters;
  • Participate in industry association activities;
  • Participate in acquisition due diligence; and
  • Provide mentoring to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with 5+ years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry;
  • Experience executing integrity activities such as inline inspection programs, pipeline repair programs, and watercourse crossing remediation work;
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and regulations such as CSA Z662, NEB OPR, AER Pipeline Act;
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and work well in a team setting;
  • Possess excellent communication ability, both written and verbal;
  • Strong computer, organizational, and technical skills;
  • Capable of problem solving and able to meet deadlines;
  • Logical and methodical understanding of complex information;
  • Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects at the same time; and
  • Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious.
