Commercial Intern(s) - 4, 8 and/or 12 Month Terms - May 2020 At Plains Midstream Canada

Job Description

Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). PMC also operates strategically-located facilities for crude oil and NGL storage, separates NGL from natural gas and fractionates NGL into pure liquid petroleum gas (LPG) products, including propane and butane.

The Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) Intern Program offers students the opportunity to learn and develop the skills they need to pursue long, successful careers in the energy industry.

We are looking for high achieving, analytical, creative, entrepreneurial and passionate individuals for our Internship Program(s). Interns at PMC will have the opportunity to dive into real projects from day one, as well as have the opportunity to enroll in one of our multiple in-house learning series to further you’re understanding of the Oil and Gas industry. As an intern, you will be challenged on a daily basis with dynamic and fulfilling work that will allow you to gain invaluable work experience and exposure to Calgary’s leading industry.

PMC’s intern program is an opportunity to get hands on experience, education which is aligned with each student’s degree, and a real job in the oil and gas midstream sector. High achieving participants who have at least one, and up to three consecutive intern rotations with PMC during University are eligible to receive an offer to join PMC upon graduation. PMC offers one of the industry’s best formal training programs. We progress successful candidates from their university work term through to their first commercial job as an individual contributor.

PMC’s internship opportunities have been specifically designed to provide students the opportunity to apply their academic studies and gain valuable experience through meaningful and challenging work. Intern opportunities are available in a variety of our business groups.

These groups may include:

  • Crude Oil & NGL Supply, Trading, and Marketing
  • Crude Oil & NGL Facilities & Pipelines
  • Business Development
  • Truck, Rail, & Pipeline Scheduling / Logistics
  • Risk Management
  • Gas & Ethane Procurement and Processing
  • Assets Finance
  • Commercial Reporting

We have multiple intern opportunities available May 2020 ranging from 4, 8 and/or 12-month work terms.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist & support senior team members in various ad-hoc & reoccurring projects involving the gathering, consolidating, analyzing, and presenting of company and commodity market data;
  • Assist in Analyzing and developing various Commercial initiatives & ideas to support Plains’ asset and commodity logistics business;
  • Creating and updating reports based on both internal proprietary company data, and commodity market data using Microsoft tools and business intelligence software;
  • Utilize the latest technologies available to support senior team members in creating more efficient and streamlined processes for analyzing and presenting data to make business decisions;
  • Develop an understanding of both processes and the overall function of assigned business group;
  • Achieve and complete assigned tasks as outlined at the beginning of the work term;
  • Complete and present an assigned project;
  • Attend internal/external meetings, where applicable;

Qualifications:

  • Interns must be able to commit to a 4, 8 or 12-month work term starting May 4, 2020 to be considered for the program;
  • Interns must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics, Operations Management, Energy Management, Accounting, Computer/Data Science, and/or Mathematics/Statistics;
  • Previous work terms are considered an asset;
  • Both formal and non-formal co-op students are eligible to apply;
  • Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves to Calgary for the duration of the work term;
  • Ideal candidates are analytical, creative, connected, entrepreneurial, and passionate;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating strong analytical and organizational skills;
  • Proven flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business conditions;
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
