Senior Accounting Manager
Our key biotech client is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join their team. Ideally looking for someone who has a high sense of urgency, outstanding time management skills, and displays exceptional customer service to all colleagues and Company departments. This candidate owns the daily operations of the Company's accounting and is responsible for recording most transactions, including payroll, stock compensation, clinical and non-clinical accruals, and revenue. This position manages one accounts payable staff, has accounting contractor support, and reports to the Controller.
What you will be doing:
- Own the daily operations of the accounting department by recording and reconciling most transactions
- Prepare detailed accounting for clinical and non-clinical accruals, contract manufacturing and revenue
- Supervise accounts payable to ensure proper account coding, cutoff and timely payments
- Lead an accounting contractor and direct their activities as support for recording and reconciling monthly transactions and accounts
- Improve month and year-end close process and timing by supporting the evaluation, development, and implementation of controls and systems automation
- Document accounting narratives and technical position memoranda in accordance with US GAAP
- Process payroll and collaborate with corporate personnel to ensure reporting obligations are met timely and accurately
- Partner with the Controller to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Assist in financial statement analysis, including working with the Director of FP&A and Controller on budget versus actual explanations
- Assist with year-end audits and prepare work papers for the auditors
- Oversee preparation of various tax filings requirements, including Delaware franchise tax, sales use tax and property tax
- Administration of equity compensation plan
- Other duties as assigned with a laser focus on career building experiences
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting/finance
- CPA designation preferred
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and work under pressure
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Experience of 4+ years in operational accounting, including supervisory assignments
- Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry and Big Four experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and reporting requirements
- Outstanding ability to communicate complex information (written and verbal) quickly
- Proficient using NetSuite, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite - advanced Excel skills preferred
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $140,000.00 to $165,000.00 /year
Experience:
- Accounting: 5 years (Preferred)
- Biotech Industry: 3 years (Preferred)
