The Role of the VP, Business Development
Business development is the creation of long-term value for an organization from customers, markets, and relationships. The candidate will develop and implement growth opportunities within and between organizations.
VP, Business Development - is an action-oriented role for go-getters who know how to track business leads, articulate the benefits of products and service, and develop a process for driving sales.
A VP, Business Development works to improve an organization's market position and achieve financial growth. This person executes organizational strategic goals defined by the Executive Team, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
VP, Business Development shall work in a senior sales position within the company. It is their job to work with the internal team, marketing staff, and other managers to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for their organization. To achieve this, they need to find potential Dealing Representative ("DR's"), and ultimately convince them to join Pinnacle's sales force, and continue to grow the business in the future.
VP, Business Development will also help manage existing DR's and ensure they have the technology, tools, and support needed to be successful. They call on Issuers and DR's, often being required to launch product calls via presentations, webinars and annual conferences.
Job Description
The VP, Business Development will prospect for new DR's by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential prospects. They must then plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential / DR's to do business with the company.
They must develop a rapport with DR's and set targets for sales and provide support that will continually improve the relationship. They are also required to grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new solutions and services to DR's. VP, Business Development work with mid and senior level management, marketing, and technical staff.
He/she may manage the activities of others responsible for developing business for the company. Strategic planning with the Executive Team is a key part of this job description, since it is the business manager's responsibility to develop the pipeline of new business coming into the company. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the company's competitors.
