Test Engineer At Loblaw Digital

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Job Description

As a Test Engineer you will be embedded within a development team to ensure every commit is tested effectively. Our team is driven by a passion for scale and we don't fear getting our hands dirty with all that DevOps has to offer. We pride ourselves on deeply understanding and taking advantage of cloud platforms, containerization, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and the glue that binds them all together.

You write code to automate 'all the things' and teach other developers best practices about testing. As a Test Engineer, you navigate Loblaw Digitals codebases, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. You'll have a huge impact on the quality of Loblaw Digitals growing suite of products and services.

You will use your knowledge of testing methodology to influence better software design, promote proper engineering practice, bug prevention strategies, testability, accessibility, privacy, and other advanced quality concepts across products.

We hire people with a broad set of technical skills who are ready to take on some of technology's greatest challenges and make an impact on millions of Canadians.

Responsibilities

  • Automate processes to increase development team productivity.
  • Write code to test web, app, api solutions from unit to e2e.
  • Be prepared to learn and develop in Java, Ruby, Swift, Elixir, and JavaScript.
  • Take responsibility for monitoring product development with an eye toward improving product quality.
  • Create test harnesses and infrastructure as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience, including development and/or test automation experience.
  • Coding experience in at least one general purpose programming language.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MA/MS in Computer Science.
  • 3 years of relevant experience, including 1 year of industry experience.
  • Expertise in at least one OO and one functional language.
  • Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.
  • Deep knowledge of test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases and debugging.
  • Deep knowledge of emergent technologies around CI/CD.
  • Understanding of the W3C Webdriver JSON Wire protocol.

Benefits

  • 10% Colleague Discount Program on eligible products sold at Loblaw stores.
  • Ongoing career development through in-house training programs, tuition assistance and support for professional designations.
  • Sharing in the growth of Loblaw with our Employee Share Ownership Plan.
  • Corporate rate fitness club memberships for colleagues as well as eligible family members.
  • Helping you help others with our Volunteer Grant Program.
