Marketing Insights Analyst, Marketing Intelligence At Loblaw Digital

Location: Toronto, Ontario

The impact you’ll make
As a Marketing Insights Analyst within the Marketing Intelligence team, you will collaborate with peers in demand generation, digital messaging, web analytics, data science and business marketing teams to advance our marketing strategy. You will mine, manipulate and extract data from our massive datasets to glean insights which impact customer acquisition, retention and engagement strategies.
We’re looking for a team player who gets excited about answering difficult business problems and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get deep into the data. Our ideal candidate loves to constantly be digging into the ‘why’ and is not afraid to challenge the status quo and ask the difficult questions. You must be keen on delivering insights which have a strong bias towards action and be a storyteller.

What You’ll do:

  • Provide insight and recommendations to key partner teams around marketing strategies to meet business goals (OKRs)
  • Mine, extract, clean and manipulate raw data using SQL and Python/R to support analysis projects
  • Build and support a common contextual data layer to enable more efficient querying & richer insights (Data sources to incorporate include transactional, loyalty, clickstream and app logs, ad server logs, email logs, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to onboard & QA new marketing data pipelines and automation of daily tasks (ex. transfer of data from Google Cloud Platform into Salesforce Marketing Cloud for email deployment)
  • Develop profiling/scoring models and segmentation strategies based on our customer centric metrics such as CLV, creating automated reports and dashboards (using Tableau, Looker)
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Data Science team to build, test, productionize and QA use cases (ex. predictive models, propensity to purchase models, product / category recommendation engines & customer segmentation / clustering models)
  • Spearhead the planning, execution and monitoring of A/B tests, marketing experiments and channel attribution to enable insights and recommendations to optimize media investment
  • Lead the creation of post campaign reports/presentations that are engaging, client-friendly, insightful incorporating best practices in data visualization and story-telling, on an adhoc/monthly/quarterly/yearly basis

What You’ll need:

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in mathematics, computer science, engineering, business or related disciplines, with a sound understanding of data analytics
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing large datasets and extracting insights within the sales and marketing analytics space
  • Expert in querying transactional, loyalty & web analytics raw data using SQL (using BigQuery Standard SQL is a plus!)
  • Strong understanding of database structures and schemas
  • Beginner or intermediate proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R, VBA, command line to set up automation and integrations locally
  • Experience working with raw data from Google or Adobe analytics, Media platforms (ex. Google Marketing Platforms, Facebook), Email Platforms (Salesforce), Experimentation (ex. Adobe Target, Audience Manager)
  • A strong understanding of how digital marketing channels work, how they can be integrated and how to evaluate or measure their performance
  • Sound knowledge of CRM principles and lifecycle marketing strategies (ex. customer journey, acquisition, conversion, loyalty, engagement, retention and attrition models)
  • Have previously built compelling visualizations to convey key insights using tools such as Tableau, Looker, PowerBI or python libraries (ex. seaborn, matplotlib, ggplot)
  • Experience using G-suite, Microsoft Onedrive/ Office suite products
  • Exceptional organizational, problem solving, critical thinking and analysis skills combined with the ability to synthesize and effectively communicate findings to all levels throughout the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, maintain focus while working on multiple complex projects
