Marketing Data Scientist At Loblaw Digital

Location: Toronto, Ontario

The impact you’ll make
As a Marketing Data Scientist, you will impact our business by pioneering a new capability at Loblaw Digital that will power best in class marketing, personalization and significantly improve the customer experience.
We’re expanding our data science operation to include a dedicate team focused on marketing, and want you to be a part of it. You’ll sit at the intersection of data science and our marketing teams, which include the domains of Marketing Intelligence, Demand Generation, and Digital Messaging. You’ll help us improve our cost-efficiency, reach, and understanding of our customers by adding ML modeling and predictive analytics to the toolset that serves these teams. We’re looking to turn our enviable wealth of data into actionable insights and meaningful recommendations that drive growth and improved engagement across all of our lines of business, and a customer-focused mindset is a must-have.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, implement, and refine core marketing measurement frameworks and models for user growth and marketing sophistication including customer segmentation, retention strategy, multi-touch attribution, churn, CLV, ROI, experimentation and recommendation to drive marketing personalization across all channels working cross-functionally with the marketing teams on our core growth initiatives
  • Build affinity and propensity models to refine campaign audience selection to target the right people, at the right time and in the right place
  • Work with both the Marketing Intelligence and the Data Platform teams to generate marketing-specific data products, including predictive and descriptive models
  • Work with the BI and Data Platform teams to plan the ingestion of marketing-specific data sources and enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for creating better ML models
  • Contribute to the development of ML models that help us drive customer engagement and better understand customer lifetime value across all lines of business
  • Increase internal adoption of advanced analytics methods including machine learning
  • Present findings in a way that addresses not only the interpretation of the statistical results, but the business implications of the contributing analysis
  • BA/BS in math, engineering, computer science, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Comfortable with python and scikit or other ML packages
  • Comfortable with both basic and more advanced SQL querying
  • Strong ability for prioritization and communication
  • Good understanding of feature engineering, and ideally experience training ML models as well
  • Prior experience working with marketing teams
  • Familiarity with marketing platforms such as Google Ads, Adobe DMP, GA360 preferred
  • Experience with dataviz tools such as Tableau, Looker, etc.
  • Some experience with BigData tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka preferred
