Business Development Associate At Lethbridge College

Location: Lethbridge, Alberta

Job Description

Responsibilities

The Business Development Associate is primarily responsible for driving sales and business growth in the Corporate and Continuing Education (CCE) department at Lethbridge College. CCE, working with various college departments and schools with expertise in design thinking and adult education, develops and delivers courses and customizable training solutions to meet professional and industry needs. The Business Development Associate is responsible for building key customer relationships with new and existing clients. This role will manage current clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction and retain business, and will proactively canvass industry to ensure continual opportunities for business growth.

Job Duties
  • Build key customer relationships with new and existing clients, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and business retention
  • Work with staff from various schools and departments within the college to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue
  • Proactively and strategically canvass industry to ensure continual opportunities for business growth
  • Shape client relationships; understand and anticipate their needs by asking the right questions and listening intently
  • Negotiate and close business deals; support contract preparation
  • Participate in setting sales targets
  • Attend industry functions and provide feedback and information on emerging trends
  • Maintain and use knowledge of current market conditions and competitors to identify and develop the college’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Consult with and present to senior management on business trends in order to develop new services, products, and distribution channels
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Three plus years of business development experience with proven track record of success in sales and business development
  • Bachelor degree preferred; combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Proven understanding of southern Alberta manufacturing, agriculture/agri-food, supply chain and logistics industries , as well as Indigenous communities and government services
  • Existing network of established industry relationships and an understanding of both public and private sector business
  • Demonstrated relationship management experience
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
