Kirsten Smith Design offers tailored services for clients from space planning, construction plans, millwork plans, styling and finishing and project management for renovation, addition, and new construction projects.

As a Junior Designer at Kirsten Smith Design, you will work closely with team members to collaborate on client projects from initial consultation to final design of projects. The successful candidate will develop design concepts, space planning, selections of finishes and furnishings, and assist in client budgeting and project management.
Creation and assistance with permit and or construction drawings for residential and small commercial buildings
Generating design concepts and executions based upon client needs and project scopes
Creation and planning of mood boards, millwork drawings, detailed drawings, conceptual plans, and 3D renderings
Proficiency surveying, taking site measurements and notes
Site visits with supervision
Communicating with suppliers
Work within a collaborative team setting to develop design solutions
Work with timely schedules to coordinate completion of tasks through to final project completion
Writing basic Scope of Works
Administrative filing and organization
Sourcing and ordering appropriate materials, finishes, and products within client budget, and putting together FF&E schedules
Prepare and participate in client presentations
Any other tasks as reasonably assigned by the supervisor
Bachelor or Diploma Architecture Technology, Interior Design or equivalent program
A highly motivated and dedicated individual who works well independently and within team settings
Strong design skills and knowledge of different architectural styles, design trends, and cultures
Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code (particularly Part 9, Part 3 & SB-12)
Understanding of construction and contract administrative process
Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects, daily tasks, and problem solve in a calm and respectful manner
Proven record of results and working under measurable goals
Strong verbal, graphic and written communication, and conscientious client relationship skills
Excellent proficiency with design software such as; AutoCAD, Sketchup & Plug-Ins, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word)
G driver license and vehicle for transportation
