Project Manager At KIND

Location: New York, New York

Job Description

Job Description:

Who are we?

Since its founding in 2004, KIND has been on a mission to make the world a little kinder one snack and one act at a time. KIND was born out of its founder’s desire to create a snack that was healthy and tasty, wholesome and convenient. What began as a line of premium Fruit & Nut bars sparked the creation of an entirely new healthier snacking category. Today, KIND has a family of snacks that offer solutions for a variety of different occasions.

We love making snacks that delight people’s taste buds and fuel their bodies, and we also love inspiring kindness in communities everywhere. As a not-only-for-profit company, we’ve always believed that there’s more to business than just profit.

We’re looking for passionate collaborators to help us become the foremost leader in health & wellness and positively impact society along the way. If you’re looking to be a part of an inspiring, energetic and entrepreneurial environment, you’ve found the right place.

What you’ll do

KIND has an exciting and ambitious Strategic Plan that will enable us to take our growth and performance to the next level. Innovation and product optimization are critical drivers of that success. As such, we are looking for a Project Manager to drive end to end innovation and product optimization. You will join a newly formed group that will be the backbone of our commercialization efforts. This role will provide you with many opportunities to make a visible and meaningful impact. Working with the Senior Director, PMO and Strategy Execution, the SVP of Strategy and Execution, and key leaders across KIND, you will:

  • Scope and plan projects: Set goals and objectives, create project plans, determine resources and budgets (with the project sponsor), identify risks, develop contingency plans, create a change management plan and set KPIs
  • Execute with excellence: Manage accurate project timelines, ensure clarity of responsibilities across owners / contributors, anticipate risks, identify mitigation approaches, monitor progress, track KPIs, and ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget all while managing stakeholders / communication
  • Develop a deep understanding of KIND’s innovation, operational and commercial activities to be a subject matter expert to push the thinking (vs. just pushing a timeline)
  • Have a clear understanding of the business case (e.g., consumer insights, financials, marketing business case, operations & supply chain impact) to be a thought partner with cross functional team members
  • Apply (and share with team members) project management best practices that have driven your success
  • Lead others in following the KIND stage gate model AND help refine our commercialization process to drive value, speed and quality (cost effectively)

What you’ll bring to KIND

  • Proven skills and results in Program and Project Management, specifically in CPG (food)
  • Project management experience leading projects in food innovation and product optimization initiatives in CPG (food)
  • Strong people skills with a proven track record of driving change, influencing (especially at a higher level) and stakeholder management
  • Strong organization skills, especially managing complex projects
  • Solid written and oral communication skills (e.g., clear and compelling “story”, with accurate insights and a well thought out recommendation)
  • Excellent problem solving in both ambiguous and tactical situations and a bias for action (i.e., you ask “how can we?” vs. “can we?”)
  • Experience managing cross functional teams with limited resources in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform in a dynamic environment and comfort working in ambiguity
  • Entrepreneurial and creative solution orientated mindset, with the ability to ‘think like as an owner', be flexible
  • Forward thinking to look around the corner and see what is coming
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence, high quality standards, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in PM tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smart Sheet), Excel and PowerPoint

Required Experience:

You are

  • A team player and change champion (proven experiences of leading other to think and differently according to the business needs)
  • Highly organized with the ability to organize others around you
  • Level-headed with the ability to maintain focus on the critical tasks at hand
  • Driven, resourceful, curious, and a fast learner
  • Uncompromising in your professionalism and ethical conduct
  • Passionate for KIND and healthy snacks
  • Genuine in your desire to help make the world a kinder place, committing to always spreading and celebrating kindness

You have

  • A minimum of 3 (ideally 5) years relevant experience in program and project management
  • CPG experience required (food experience strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree; Masters or MBA a plus
  • Certification in Project Management
  • Deep knowledge of how CPG (food) companies and large retailers operate
  • Ideally, experience in IBP (integrated business planning)
  • Track record of successfully executing program and project management in food (especially innovation stage gates)

What KIND offers

  • Casual office dress code – feel free to wear your KIND gear
  • Stock up on your favorite KIND bars to share with your family & friends, through a quarterly voucher redeemable on ks.com
