Join a NASA flight software team working on a Jupiter-orbiting spacecraft with a mission to achieve close encounter of the moon Europa for conducting scientific observation. This mission is called the Europa Clipper project. As a flight software internal tester, you will be responsible for testing flight software components that control the spacecraft. Use your creativity and ingenuity to understand the flight system, explore flight software code, write test scenarios, expose flight software bugs, and create tools. Perform maintenance of the flight software testing environment to improve its usability and efficiency. Work with software that implements spacecraft capabilities including command, communication, data management, instrument management, and fault protection. You will be working in NASA/JPL's Flight Software and Avionics Systems section.
Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related subject matter
Must be available to work on-site at JPL part time (8 to 30 hours/week) during the 2019-2020 school year.
Excellent C programming skills
Experience with Python programming
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
Coursework in programming and data structures
Basic familiarity with Linux.
Internship or projects with significant C or C++ programming
Internship or experience with embedded programming or CubeSats
Coursework in operating systems, multi-threaded programming, computer architecture, algorithms, programming languages, software engineering, computer science theory, embedded programming
C++ or Java
Ability to Obtain Work Authorization
