New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That's our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers--literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission--your opportunity--is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you're driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you're ready for JPL.
The Component Engineering and Assurance Office develops and implements electronic parts programs that ensure high-quality components perform as expected for JPL projects and instruments. This includes quality and reliability assessments and testing of passive and active Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) parts, components and assemblies; radiation testing and analysis services; failure analysis, destructive/non-destructive physical analysis, thermal cycling and extreme temperature testing; parts program management services; and parts acquisition support.
As a member of the Parts Acquisition Group (5142) within the Component Engineering and Assurance Office, you will be responsible for the following:
Evaluate project space flight electronic parts requirements and develop a plan jointly with the Parts Project Engineers (PPE) in fulfilling these requirements
Identify part availability by searching existing inventory of electronics parts, and initiate procurement cycle for parts shortage
Ensure parts meet the technical screening requirements as defined by the Part Specialist or Radiation Specialist
Track and maintain project parts lists, procurement/kitting status in the Parts Acquisition and Review Database
Use Oracle Bill of Material (BOM), Work-in-Process (WIP), and Inventory modules
Generate issuance of electronic part kits to Manufacturing
Disposition Quality Inspection Reports
Evaluate discrepancies (failure, anomaly, test deviation, etc.) to determine the necessary steps to close out the issue
Report status of procurement, testing and IR closure to line and project management, along with risk analysis, as required
Coordinate between engineers of different and part manufacturers to resolve technical issues that impact delivery schedules
Representative at manufacturing meetings and provide input based on understanding of risk areas due to technical or delivery issues
As a temporary position, this assignment may last up to 36 months in duration with approvals based on 12 month assignments. However, please note that you are not under any employment contract and your temporary employment status can be terminated at any time, with or without notice.
