The Field Service Engineer is responsible to provide the highest quality service to our customers providing on-time installation and service. The Field Service Engineer possesses a strong customer service background and understands the sense of urgency when delivering services to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Install material handling systems, which includes conveyors and barcode scanners, in the most efficient time with the highest quality standards.
Repair material handling systems so, there are not any repeat visits having the same problem within 6 months.
Perform preventative maintenance on Datalogic equipment within the quoted timeline.
Ensure all service activity is accurately documented after a service call has been completed.
Provide tech support to Datalogic's customers on resolving material handling issues.
Provide support to other technicians.
Manage large installations of Datalogic's equipment that take more than a week to complete.
Train customers on how their Datalogic equipment functions and how the fix/replace a device when it has failed.
Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Associates Degree with equivalent job experience, or Military training in electronics with hands on experience
Trouble shooting and diagnostic experience.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow directions and work independently.
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability for overnight travel up to 90% for domestic
International travel 5%.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software
Good understanding of computer networks
PLC communications experience: Device-net, Profinet, Profibus
Field service experience is a plus.
Experience working with auto ID products
