Operations Manager At Danby Products

Location: Balzac, Alberta

Job Description

Overview:[
The Operations Manager is responsible for the direct management of all warehousing, remanufacturing and reverse logistics functions at our facility in Balzac, Alberta. This includes accountability for inbound and outbound freight, as well as adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures. The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the performance of all warehouse and reverse logistics employees.
]Responsibilities:

  • Monitor product being received, shipped and returned to ensure that all shipments are being processed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Develop short- and long-term strategic plans, including the preparation of annual business plans and budgets
  • Provide strong leadership by promoting the mission and values of the organization both internally and externally
  • Schedule the work flow in the shipping & receiving, remanufacturing & reverse logistics departments
  • Supervise employees, including hiring, delegation, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and termination
  • Assist the Executive team in planning and forecasting appropriate levels of staffing
  • Ensure that all staff members are following health and safety policies and procedures
  • Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight
  • Conduct periodic spot-checks of inventory, supplies, or equipment and take appropriate action
  • Investigate causes of lost or damaged shipments and other matters; makes adjustments where necessary
  • Operate a tow motor, clamp truck or cart to move materials around the warehouse with full adherence to company safety policy and safety compliance regulations
  • Assess the need for and arranges the maintenance and repair of tow motors, clamp trucks, crash pads, and carts etc.
  • Ensure that product is stored with correct stacking heights and is within the marked areas.
  • Responsible for opening and closing of Warehouse
  • Responsible for emergency security alarm calls as needed, both for office and warehouse
Qualifications:
  • A College or University degree in business, with a focus on warehousing, transportation, inventory control, or materials management coupled with 5 years of experience in a warehouse environment/reverse logistics in a supervisory capacity or equivalent experience.
  • Working experience in the Commercial Appliance and Warehousing industry preferred.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull product weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience operating a forklift/clamp truck
  • Proven success in development and implementation of program improvements for cost-saving measures
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Excellent communication skills, writing, speaking and presenting.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with key business partners, and customers.
  • Able to create realistic schedules and meet deadlines under stress and interruptions
  • Expert skills in MS Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Experience utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software; NetSuite is an asset
  • Traffic or customs experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to travel to the U.S. warehouse locations as required
