Serves as a technical specialist for Transit Services security systems including, but not restricted to, the
oversight of design, installation, maintenance, repair of technical hardware/software systems relating to
CCTV (closed circuit TV), E-phones, DVR (digital video recording) audio recording, alarms, and fire
protection systems, as well as for the processes to manage data video, maintain the equipment and manage
data and equipment life-cycle planning. The incumbent plans for the implementation of security systems and
equipment, ensures a consistent approach to the implementation of security processes, and develops,
maintains and updates policies/procedures.
Participates in the development/implementation/oversight of various systems, plans, policies, rules and
procedures, and coordinates activities with other City partners, Federal agencies and other
Canadian/International Transit authorities to obtain information.
Education & Experience
Three (3) year Community College diploma in Electrical/Electronic technology or a related field of study.
Five (5) years of relevant practical experience, which includes three (3) years in a unionized operational
environment, systems design, security installations and the management of security electronics to include
Language, Certificates & Licenses
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Record Check to the City of Ottawa’s
English oral, reading, writing required.
- Knowledge and understanding of Integrated electronic security management systems, including
access control, applications and usage of technical security systems such as DVR (digital video
recorder),alarm systems, CCTV (closed circuit television), video management software, e-phones,
audio recording and fire protection systems

- Possess computer literacy in MS Office Suite in a Windows environment, including use of intra/internet
- Able to work with hardware, specific computer applications or software used in the section
- Able to trouble-shoot, repair and program CCTV
- Able to research, analyze and evaluate new security system products
- Possess solid computer skills to manage databases and reporting
- Able to resolve problems with hardware, software and/or large volumes of data
- Able to analyze issues, make judgments on the interpretation of data quality, make decisions, solve
problems and formulate recommendations
- Possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Possess project management skills
