The Information Technology Division requires a temporary full-time Programmer-Analyst for approximately 2 years.
Reporting to the Manager, Application and GIS Services, you will be involved in the support and development of enterprise applications, including complex programming work encompassing all phases of development (business analysis, design, programming, testing, implementation, and support). You will prepare program specifications, design, write, and test programs or segments of programs; participate in analyzing existing and proposed systems, procedures, and requirements; and assist in the definition of user needs and the implementation of new and/or revised systems.
Your excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines, together with your proven interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships (in particular facilitating multidisciplinary teams), will ensure success in this position within a dynamic and innovative team.
You will have a degree or diploma in computer science or a related discipline, with several years’ related experience, preferably in web-based programming and specifically some combination of: ASP.Net, Ruby on Rails, and/or C++/C#, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience using project management methodology is required, with Agile strongly preferred, along with extensive knowledge of enterprise application configuration, interface design and maintenance, and analysis, preferably in a municipality. Preference will be given to candidates with IPS and/or other asset management software experience.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
$35.74 to $42.20 per hour
(Pay Grade 24 – January 2018 rates)
Hours of Work:
Any 7 consecutive hours between 7:00am and 11:00pm, Monday to Friday, and may also be scheduled for a regular shift on Saturday between 8:30am and 5pm, exclusive of meal breaks. The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
