We have a new and exciting opportunity for a full time Integrated Storm Water Engineer. We are seeking candidates who are either registered as a professional engineer (P. Eng.), or if you are registered as an Engineer-In-Training in the province of British Columbia, this is an excellent opportunity for you to grow your engineering career and ultimately achieve the Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation.
As part of the Infrastructure Planning team within our Engineering Department, the ideal candidate for the Integrated Storm Water Engineer position will be a forward thinking and self-motivated individual who will be tasked with advancing the City’s Integrated Storm Water Management Plan. You will work collaboratively with other city departments, external agencies and community stakeholders to research and undertake studies, policies, concept plans and designs of Green Infrastructure (GI) and to implement GI capital programs. The work includes integrating storm water management in key areas such as climate change resiliency, transportation, urban design, developments, flood protection, bio-diversity and habitat. In addition, you will identify, evaluate and prioritize actions related to combined sewer overflow reduction, cross connection elimination, rainwater harvest/re-use programs, public awareness, and other Green Infrastructure initiatives. This position will be the subject matter expert and a central point of contact for public and stakeholder inquiries. You will coordinate engagement programs with the public, external partners and development applicants.
You have Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resource or Environmental Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related professional engineering field. Local government experience or familiarity with local government development processes is preferred. A Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation with Engineers and Geoscientist BC is preferred; however applications will be considered from qualified candidates who are registered as an Engineer-In-Training in the Province of British Columbia, and working towards registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
