Engineering Project Clerk At City of Maple Ridge (BC)

Location: Maple Ridge, British Columbia

Job Description

Overview

This is clerical work of some variety and moderate complexity in providing project support and assistance to professional Engineering staff within the department. The work involves processing and monitoring payments, preparing tender and contract documents with project managers, compiling, preparing and maintaining project documentation and water quality reports; updating professional staff on project issues; preparing correspondence; preparing Local Service Area applications; maintaining the department records system and; general clerical office duties. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised within defined limits, while the more unusual or complex problems are referred to a superior who reviews work in terms of accuracy, completeness, and conformance with established practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

Considerable knowledge of the services, functions, procedures, by-laws and regulations governing applicable department operations and activities as they relate to the work performed.Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.Sound knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel.Sound knowledge of record keeping, filing, and related clerical functions.Some knowledge of terminology related to specialty areas as related to the work performed.Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and other departments in providing information and assistance on matters related to the work.Ability to perform clerical and incidental typing assignments and to use computer software applications.Ability to relieve senior staff of project details and to act with some authority as directed.Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to prepare documents and correspondence related to contracts, tendering and project record keeping work.Ability to operate office equipment related to the work.
