Visitor Centre Coordinator At City of Hamilton

Location: Hamilton, Ontario

Job Description

Reporting to the Business Development Consultant – Tourism, The Visitor Centre Coordinator plans, facilitates and ensures delivery of programs and services to leisure and business visitors and residents offered through the Visitor Centre as a hub in support of tourism, cultural industries and broader cultural objectives. Working in a collaborative manner, this position works closely with other Tourism and Culture staff, industry stakeholders and community partners to provide leisure and business visitors and residents with positive experiences. Utilizes current best practices, market segmentation knowledge and research, evaluation results and aligns with the City of Hamilton plans and strategies including but not limited to Tourism Strategy, Cultural Plan and Economic Development Strategy and supporting tourism marketing initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated experience in the area of Tourism Development, Cultural Services and customer Service normally acquired through the completion of post-secondary education in a related field or a combination of education and direct work experience.
Demonstrated experience creating and delivering programs/projects to engage the public.
Knowledge of the Hamilton tourism sector, tourism products and markets.

Superior knowledge of IDSS – The Tourism and Creative Industries Customer Resource Management System or similar. Super knowledge of POS System Legend or similar. Retail and revenue generation experience is an asset.

Strong customer service skills and demonstrated the ability to interact professionally with tourism industry partners, cultural community partners, management, elected officials, city departments and city staff, customers, clients and the general public.

Experience in working independently and collaboratively in a wide variety of staff and community based teams. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work within deadlines and competing priorities.

Must be available to work events, evenings and weekends as required.
  • NOTE: Must possess and maintain a Class "G" Driver's License valid in the Province of Ontario and provision of a personal vehicle for use on the job.
