Reporting to the Traffic Signal Supervisor, this position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of various electronic traffic control devices and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to, installing, maintaining and repairing overhead/underground wiring, signal heads, poles, vehicle detection, cabinets, and controllers. Operate an aerial bucket truck and respond to trouble calls during normal business hours and while on stand-by.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Certificate of Qualification as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 309A and/or 442.
Must possess a Class “G” driver’s licence and point-free driving record and/or a record found to be satisfactory to the City of Hamilton. Applicants with a "DZ" driver's license will be preferred. All applicants must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a “DZ” license in order to continue employment in this position. Said licence must be obtained within 90 calendar days of hire.
Must be able to work in all outdoor environments and seasons.
Must be able to climb into and out of aerial buckets with a maximum lifting capacity of 300 lbs and operate from aerial device at heights ranging from 3-10 meters.
Must have experience installing, maintaining, trouble shooting and repairing analog and digital equipment as well as installing and maintaining 120VAC field wiring and connections.
Previous experience with the installation and maintenance of electronic traffic control equipment as well as Certification with IMSA considered an asset.
