Job Title: Technology Crime Unit (TCU) Assistant
Reports to: Detective Sergeant, Forensic Services
Job Location: Mountain Police Station. Will be working at the Investigative Services Division Building, once completed.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm; flexibility required.
Salary: $65,934 to $77,572 per annum (As of January 1, 2017)

The TCU Assistant is primarily responsible for the configuration, installation, maintenance, and deployment of all specialized forensic hardware/software, supporting servers, storage, and backup/replication technologies for both the TCU and Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit. The TCU Assistant will also provide technical expertise to extract evidence from all types of digital devices, and may assist TCU Detectives on scene to collect and process evidence, or attend Court.
The TCU Assistant’s primary responsibility is to support and maintain technologies in a complex and secure environment (e.g. isolated private networks, property/inventory database, encryption of critical data, and network hardening, etc.). The TCU is required to provide tech support, and administer and support network monitoring, backup systems, etc. This role requires support, consultation and participation in the development of HPS technologies relating to data extraction. The successful candidate will be able to automate processes using program scripts in such languages as Powershell, Python, .Net, etc.
The ideal candidate will have advanced computer/technical knowledge and the ability to work with a wide variety of technology/hardware/software, as well as experience with current programming languages (e.g. Python, SQLite databases, etc.). They will have strong analytical and problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
EDUCATION: Minimum three (3) year Community College Diploma or University Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (e.g. Network Administration, Network Systems, Network Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management).
An equivalent combination of at least five (5) years of job related education/training and experience may be considered.
