Teacher (Casual On-Call) At City of Hamilton

Location: Hamilton, Ontario

Job Description

Reports to the Program Supervisor. Plans and conducts general programs and activities for children in accordance with the Child Care and Early Year's Act, Regulations and Standards. Teach children skills such as language, gross and fine motor, social and cognitive and interacts with children. Implement individual special needs program plans. Observe and record children's developmental progress and conduct parent interviews. Create and set up materials, equipment and other resources.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Specialized knowledge in family studies, child care and child development normally acquired through a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalency through the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Must be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educator's.

Bachelor of Arts Degree related to the field of Child Studies would be considered an asset.

Practical knowledge and skill relating to Early Childhood Education and Child Studies.

Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Year's Act and Regulation.

Demonstrated ability to implement and plan special needs activities and programs. Demonstrated knowledge of and or experience with emergent curriculum, play based learning and early learning pedagogy, specifically the Ministry of Education’s “How Does Learning Happen”.

Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to relate to children and fellow staff in a child care setting.

Previous experience working in a diverse and inclusive an integrated Child Care setting.

Previous experience with parent engagement.

Must possess and maintain current certification in “Standard” First Aid with CPR Level “C”. All “Standard” First Aid certificates must be issued by a training agency recognized by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB). Please refer to the WSIB website www.wsib.on.ca for approved providers.
