Reporting to the Foreperson I, diagnoses, repairs, maintains, inspects and rebuilds various types of City equipment and vehicles such as cars, plow trucks, salter sanders, roading building equipment, off road equipment, and turf equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
At the time of application, must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Truck and Coach Technician’s Licence (310T) with extensive experience in the trade within a medium to large fleet maintenance environment. A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A)and/or an Automotive Service Technician (310S) licence would be an asset.
Extensive experience in inspecting and servicing vehicles and equipment on a scheduled basis, such as periodic planned vehicle preventative maintenance inspections and Annual Vehicle Safety Inspections as per National Safety Code 11.
Experience with plow trucks, salter sanders, roading building equipment, off road equipment, and turf equipment is an asset.
Extensive experience with diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing Cummins, Detroit Diesel and Ford diesel exhaust after treatment systems.
An in depth knowledge of Cummins Insite, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, Allison DOC, Meritor WABCO Toolbox, Bendix ACOM and Ford IDS software packages.
Computer literate with experience with online computerized vehicle maintenance systems, electronic work orders and time cards.
Reliable and team-oriented with solid customer service skills.
NOTE: Must be physically capable of using heavy tools and equipment.
NOTE: Must be willing to work outdoors and in adverse weather conditions.
NOTE: Must be willing and available to work evenings, nights and weekend shifts as required.
NOTE: Must possess and maintain a minimum Class "G" Driver's License valid in the Province of Ontario and a point-free driving record and or record found to be satisfactory to the City of Hamilton. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, Class “D” with “Z” endorsement.
