Under supervision, this classification performs general duties involving developing, implementing and overseeing community engagement efforts for library services, projects and public programs. This position would also be responsible for related marketing tasks including social media management, website maintenance, preparing promotional campaigns, and increasing awareness art and music programs and services at the library department.
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides staff assistance to community groups and technical support for library projects, programs and facility rentals.
Develops publicity materials associated with library programs as needed.
Assists in the development of video presentations related to projects, programs and services undertaken by the Library. .
Plans, organizes special events, marketing projects and campaigns that promote library programs and projects. Develops focused public relations campaigns for specific projects and programs.
Develops motivation efforts for increased citizen participation in the arts.
Prepares strategies to disseminate information and elicits feedback from the community.
Conducts outreach to target populations to increase engagement with arts & cultural programs.
Explains Library processes and procedures clearly and effectively.
Assists and trains operation staff in public participation strategies.
Serves as liaison with community organizations and develops partnerships.
Assumes responsibility for ensuring the duties of the position are performed in a safe, efficient manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation requires.
The examination will consist of an evaluation, a written, and an oral, with the evaluation as a qualifying step, written – pass/fail, and the oral 100%. Candidates must pass the written examination with a minimum score of 70.00% in order to be considered for an oral interview. Due to the large number of applications anticipated, the City of Glendale cannot guarantee that all applicants who pass the written exam will be invited to an oral interview. The City of Glendale reserves the right to modify the above stated examination components and/or weights. Should this be necessary, the candidates will be notified of the specific examination components and weights prior to the administration of any examination. The selected candidate will be subjected to a background check including Livescan fingerprinting. TIME AND PLACE OF THE EXAMINATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED.
