Are you a business professional with the kind of public sector political savvy that will enable you to strategize and implement ‘big picture’ initiatives?

As a Strategic Coordinator for Communications and Engagement, you will play an integral role within the leadership team to align Branch and Department activities by working collaboratively with a number of internal and external stakeholders.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:
  • Support the leadership team by providing recommendations, advice, strategic consultation and development, long term planning and preparing ad hoc reports
  • Act as principal consultant and advisor for problem formulation, statement of objectives, solution strategies, idea generation, solution implementation and evaluation of outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with Council, Senior Leadership, municipal and industry partners, other government organizations, and the community
  • Represent the Branches and Department on a wide variety of complex corporate initiatives to provide information, advice and recommendations on behalf of the leadership team
  • Plan, direct, manage, analyze, research, report, implement, monitor and coordinate confidential, high profile and sensitive projects
  • Participate in strategic planning, annual and long-range budget forecasts, in addition to providing leadership and direction of related functions (business plans, briefings and presentations)
  • Maintain an awareness of the political and economic climate driving decisions and effectively integrate into planning activities
  • Initiate, review, edit and provide direction for Council and Committee reports initiated by the Mayor and Councillors, and prepare reports for review
  • Liaise closely with Branch Managers offices to ensure alignment and support to overall Department and Corporate goals
  • Engage respectfully and inclusively with others at all levels

Qualifications

:
  • Completion of a University degree in Commerce, Public Administration or Political Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible strategic and management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in project management processes, project administration, business process improvement, process mapping, process management and project implementation and evaluation
  • Experience in a complex report development process that includes authoring, editing, strategic direction and process supports
  • Proven ability to manage multiple and competing priorities within tight deadlines
  • Exceptional verbal and written business communication skills with the ability to effectively transfer ideas, concepts and information into effective strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively network and to foster strong professional relationships with high profile, internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong skills in collaboration, teamwork and fostering a positive work environment; demonstrated commitment to respectful and inclusive interactions with all levels
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging and high-demand environment, in a proactive, self-directed and motivated manner, with minimal direction
  • Formal professional, project management and/or change management certifications or a technical designation considered an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of technological business tools, including an advanced skill level in Google Office Applications and Microsoft Office products, is required

Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required

Salary: $72,245.840 - $103,208.340 (Annually)
