Engineering Graduate Summer Student (LRT Expansion & Renewal) 4 months
1 temporary full-time position for 4 months, commencing in May 2019, intended specifically for students currently enrolled full-time in a transportation, civil, or related engineering post-secondary graduate degree program

Edmonton’s long-term LRT Network Plan balances transportation needs with a commitment to grow green and create a compact, integrated urban environment featuring a high-quality, accessible transportation mode. Valley Line West LRT is the second stage of the 27 km Valley Line urban-style low-floor LRT system and we are seeking an enthusiastic team member to support current project initiatives.
The LRT Expansion and Renewal Branch manages a large interdisciplinary team including design engineers, construction managers, contractors, consultants and internal City of Edmonton staff. The successful candidate will be part of the Valley Line West LRT project management team with the LRT Expansion and Renewal Branch. In addition to technical and analytical skills, the successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with project team members on a daily basis.
Assist Senior Engineers with engineering research, new technology evaluation and statistical data analysis
Translate technical traffic related data to easy to understand information for various users
Assist Senior Engineers in the development of technical and/or social targets/metrics to measure project performance
Other related duties as required

Currently enrolled in a transportation, civil, or related engineering post-secondary graduate degree program
Statistical analysis and project management experience would be considered an asset
Ability to work independently and make decisions in the absence of a supervisor
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
Demonstrated ability using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
