University Degree in Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, Operations Research or related field
Professional designation such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) is an asset
7 years’ experience in data management, data mining, data visualization, optimization advanced analytics and machine learning
Expertise in multivariate regression/classification, time series models, cluster analysis, anomaly detection, optimization, neural network models and both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques
Experience working with big data in real time/near real time and with big data platforms like Hadoop
Experience with relational databases, SQL, Oracle and scripting languages (e.g. Python)
Expert at data analysis and visualization using tools like Knime, Weka, R, Tableau, Octave
Hands on experience with Geographical Information Systems is an asset (Example: ArcGIS and/or Geomedia)
Proven track-record of applying machine learning techniques and statistics to solve real world problems
Strong critical thinking, consensus-building, and influencing skills
Self-directed with the ability to proactively manage complex projects unsupervised
Proven project management skills with delivering results on time and within budget
Strong communications and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse staff complement (field staff, technicians, engineers, planners, developers, vendors and IT professionals
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
