This challenging and rewarding role involves technological and administrative work involving high volume data analysis, data manipulation, programming and reporting related to in planning, developing, implementing and monitoring Municipal engineering projects performed by staff, developers, consultants and private contractors. The work includes administration and management of short and long range projects, processing non-routine Municipal projects, preparation of annual divisional and long term project budgets, liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts, provision of non-routine technical information, providing advice and interpretation and preparation of reports.
Your success in this role requires considerable knowledge and the ability to collect, analyze and summarize data in technical and statistical basis, and report information in various formats such as digital and hardcopy reports, Geographical Information System (GIS) maps, and Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards. You should have hands-on working knowledge of related commercial software packages and their application such as ESRI ArcGIS, Microsoft Applications including Excel Power Tables, databases such as Oracle, MS Access, and data manipulation software like Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) by Safe Software. Programming knowledge with any of BI reporting platforms like Tableau, PowerBI, Corgnos BI is considered an asset. Working knowledge in Data Quality Assurance / Quality Control, Query languages, data mapping, migration and reconciliation is essential. The position also requires collaboration with a variety of internal and external contacts and excellent written and verbal communication.
A diploma in a related discipline form an institute of technology, Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of BC, along with a valid BC Driver’s License, is required. Municipal engineering experience is considered an asset.
A CUPE hourly rate of $41.29 to $48.78 is being offered, along with a competitive benefits package and an earned day off program.
