The City of Colwood has an opportunity for a FULL TIME REGULAR DEVELOPMENT SERVICES PLANNER. This is a UNION position with CUPE, local 374.
This is a technical, administrative, regulatory and field work position working under the direction of the Director of Development Services, Brent Molnar.
The incumbent will perform a variety of duties related to Land Development working in both an in-office and in-the-field at construction site environment and will review subdivision projects, and other projects related to Land Development such as those that require rezoning, development permit or Development Variance permit considerations, and will interprets and approve projects to enable construction design related to new developments and subdivisions.
The Development Services Planner, reviews and processes Subdivisions, reviews access and servicing permits for residential construction and multi-family developments, liaises with other internal and external departments and agencies and provides support in connection with other development related issues and planning and departmental planning.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a degree in Urban Planning and be eligible for registration in the Planning Institute of BC (P.I.B.C.). Engineering Technologists may be considered where the applicant has related skills and experience and is registered with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC). Applicants shall have a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in Municipal Governance, and 10 years within a Planning or Engineering discipline related to development and/or municipal services. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s licence.
