Recreation Program Coordinator At City of Calgary

Location: Calgary, Alberta

As a Recreation Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for the leadership, execution and direction of work on a program portfolio supporting the overall delivery of products and services of Calgary Recreation. Primary duties include:
  • Provide program management through research, strategy development, implementation plans, evaluation and budget administration.
  • Build and foster relationships, alliances, partnerships or collaborations to enhance the delivery of programs and/or services.
  • Chair and/or represent business unit on internal and/or external committees.
  • Recruit, interview, provide on-boarding support, schedule, supervise and evaluate union/non-union staff, volunteers and work placement/practicum students.
  • Participate in long term, strategic and annual planning for Calgary Recreation and the completion of grant and funding applications.
  • Analyze service delivery environments, policies procedures, ensure business unit policies are up to date and coordinate with other relevant Corporate policies and/or legislation.

Qualifications
  • A completed 2 year certificate or diploma in Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, Diversity Studies or a closely related field, combined with at least 5 years of related experience including staff supervision; OR
  • A degree in any of the above listed (or a closely related) field, with at least 3 years of related portfolio experience, including staff supervision.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence (or provincial equivalent) and the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes is required.
  • Knowledge and experience working in two or more of the following will be considered an asset: Staffing, Dept ID , physical literacy, active play , children and youth, volunteers, older adults, access and inclusion and community building.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills along with well-developed communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of audiences.

Position Type : up to 2 Temporary (up to 10 months)
Location : 2808 Spiller Road S.E.
Compensation : Pay Grade 11 $39.46 - 52.76 per hour (2017 rates)
Days of Work : This position works a 5 day
work week with one day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
