Manager, Strategy & Business Operations At City of Calgary

As the Manager, Strategy & Business Operations, in the Real Estate & Development Services (RE&DS) Business Unit (BU), you will lead strategic business planning for the BU and the daily operations of the Business Management and Office Administrations teams. Primary duties include:
  • Oversee the Business Management team as they support policy development, coordination and maintenance for RE&DS, and determine impacts of future policy and legislative changes.
  • Oversee the development and successful implementation of market and feasibility analysis for industrial and redevelopment land parcels that maximize project yield.
  • Lead the BU’s Continuous Improvement Program, including development and monitoring of BU performance measures and reporting.
  • Lead systems & technology project management & implementation, including change management.
  • Lead BU Business Planning (One Calgary), and provide support to the Director & Management Team on People & Culture planning for the BU.
  • Provide strategic advice on general financial planning and support to applicable BU divisions with emerging internal and external business issues and opportunities.
  • Actively participate in the realignment of divisional workflow processes that are congruent with other divisions across the BU to align with the RE&DS mandate, vision, and annual targets and objectives.
  • Oversee the Office Administration team as they support all divisional areas within the BU, including training administration, FOIP Administration, Systems Administration and BU Records Administration.
  • Participate in the implementation of effective marketing strategies that help drive successful disposition of City owned land assets
Qualifications
  • A degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Commerce or a related field, plus a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience.
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration or Public Administration is considered an asset.
  • A professional designation in a related field (e.g. asset mgmt., real estate, urban planning) is also an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong strategic and business planning ability, leadership skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Compensation: Level G $98,270 - 154,609 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with one day off in a 3 week cycle.


Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
