Director of Marketing At CAKE

Sysco LABS currently offers restaurant operators a suite of technology solutions through CAKE, an integrated restaurant technology platform. CAKE seamlessly integrates front and back of house restaurant operations, allowing for unparalleled visibility into, and control over, point of sale, table and waitlist management, menu pricing, guest preference tracking, reservations systems, inventory and payroll. Operators using CAKE can easily make data-based decisions that lead to increased efficiencies and cost savings, ultimately allowing them to be more competitive in the marketplace.

The Director of Marketing is responsible for driving inbound leads for the CAKE core product line, with an emphasis on POS leads. This person will be responsible for managing a strict marketing budget and doing so by creating an overall 12-month marketing strategy that aligns with the Sales & Operations departments. Implementing A/B testing, tracking, measuring, and constantly tweaking strategy will be a requirement to ultimately generate leads that have a positive return on investment for the Company. This role will work closely with all interdepartmental Directors via regular syncs with the goal of creating a quick and efficient feedback loop between teams. The Director of Marketing will be expected to oversee all CAKE Core prospective and current customer communication, as well as playing a greater role in Sysco OpCo/associate communication. Additionally, this role will have a number of direct reports which will need coaching, mentoring, and regular communication through regular, weekly one-on-ones, as well as performance management best practices. The Director of Marketing will have regular weekly syncs with the SVP of Sales & Marketing, as well as the VP of Sales and VP of Restaurant Services & Operations.
  • Manage a remote team and perform regular 1-1 calls with each direct report
  • Lead Demand Generation through TryCake.com, Content Strategy, SEO, SEM and other paid sources
  • Manage Social Media, Reputation Management, and assist in PR as-needed
  • Create Key Performance Indicators, Metrics & Goals, visualized in Reports & Dashboards
  • Work with Sysco Development to help scale communication across the Sysco enterprise to keep CAKE front-of-mind
  • Attend regular cross-departmental syncs to ensure company-wide clarity of Marketing strategy
  • Regular audits of cross-departmental processes to create a unified end-to-end customer experience
  • Vet, negotiate, and manage relationships with various 3rd party Marketing partners

About You

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience leading and managing a Marketing team or function
  • Minimum 2 years of Director level management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Inbound Marketing Strategy, i.e. content and social media, landing pages, SEO, SEM and other paid traffic sources, conversion-centered web design theory, lead nurturing, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Inbound Marketing Automation Software (specifically Marketo)
  • Ability to make recommendations based on analyzing data and trends
  • Organizational and project management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment that requires the ability to think quickly, while managing multiple tasks and a team of direct reports
  • Strong understanding of sales process in both short and long sales cycles
  • Ability to conduct training, coaching and mentoring sessions both in-person and virtually
  • Capacity to inspire trust and confidence
