Growth Marketing Director At Blink Fitness

Job Description

Founded in 2011 by executives at Equinox, Blink Fitness is a premium quality, value-based fitness brand with more than 90 locations open or in development throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California. Blink puts Mood Above Muscle™, which celebrates the positive feeling you get from exercise, not just the physical benefits.

Blink is a subsidiary of The Related Companies, founded by Stephen Ross, who owns the Miami Dolphins, and has investments in a variety of businesses, including Momofuku and &Pizza. Blink is a wholly-owned subsidiary and is a sister brand to Equinox, Soul Cycle, Pure Yoga, and Equinox Hotels. Blink is based in Manhattan.

Blink recently launched a franchising system to complement its fast growing company-owned business model and has secured franchise development agreements in Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Virginia and upstate NY. This includes an agreement with Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, two-time NBA Champion, All Star, Olympic Gold Medalist and Defensive Player of the Year, who announced a franchise development deal to bring 20 gyms to his home state of Michigan and a portion of Illinois.

Job Overview:

The Growth Marketing Director will be responsible for bringing Blink’s Feel Good Experience across the nation expanding the footprint through both company and franchise locations.

They will evolve the development of and oversee 360 launch strategies and replicable playbooks, inclusive of digital/traditional media, local/grassroots outreach, CRM, PR and event marketing that deliver on acquisition targets.

They will also be responsible for overseeing the member marketing program that consists of retention and engagement strategies pushing brand partnerships, tech launches and new and existing ancillary businesses which include Personal Training, Retail, Referral Programs.

This person will report to the SVP of Marketing and will be responsible to lead and inspire a team of 5 to drive innovation to meet all business objectives.

Responsibilities:

Overall

  • Own, build and evolve the Marketing Support System that delivers seamless and best in class services to franchise and company owned locations inclusive of vendors, agencies, toolkits, processes and protocols.
  • Manage all agency and vendor relationships that support gym growth (PR, Event, Print, Graphics, Email etc.)
  • Evaluate current marketing strategies, thinking outside the box, in order to evolve strategy to the next level
  • Enforce shared best practices between Company Owned and Franchise and upkeep all playbooks for easy and replicable implementation
  • Build, manage and track multiple budget lines to optimize efficiency
  • Lead and inspire a team of 5 to deliver on all business objectives

Brand Expansion

  • Oversee marketing initiatives to support expansion of the Blink Fitness across the nation building replicable launch strategies that aid in increasing pre-opening membership goals x2
  • Manage the delivery of 360 launch plans for every new market and location (corporate and franchise) to deliver on sales targets for each new opening (inclusive of offers, PR, email, media, grassroots, events, partnerships etc.)
  • Lead New Market Entry Strategies to ensure immediate success in embedding Blink in each and every community
  • Build hyper localized marketing strategies to drive member acquisition around lower performing locations in a meaningful and impactful way that drive sales
  • Responsible for delivering and presenting the local marketing strategy to current and prospective franchisee’s

Member Marketing

  • Lead retention and member engagement strategies that deliver an elevated personalized experience to drive positive word of mouth
  • Drive all new and existing ancillary businesses delivering on revenue per member goals (Personal Training, Referral Program, Retail)
  • Champion the ‘in gym’ communication strategy evolution
  • Partner with product teams on all member communication channels, including our new personalized mobile companion (app)
  • Responsible for overseeing and building strategy around new CRM program, developing personalized, targeted and engaging member communication

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in local, field and/or experiential 360 marketing, preferably for a retail brand
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team, must be able to lead and motivate a large team
  • Proven ability to think strategically with demonstrated out of the box ideas for experiential marketing
  • Present ideas clearly and thoughtfully, always rooted in results
  • Experience working in cross functional groups
  • Collaborate with lead operational managers/owners in market to execute launches and local marketing tactics
  • Enjoys working in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to understand processes and relay them to your team
  • Lead successful roll outs for large project initiatives
  • Metrics and sales driven with a logistical mindset
