Director of Sales and Operations - Apparel At Arthur + Lucca

Job Description

Arthur and Lucca (Mens and Womens Custom Apparel and Alterations)

We have created the top tailor shop in Chicago over the past 5 years by having a great customer experience and bringing a high level of technical knowledge to our fittings. In 2018 we launched our custom clothing options to continue to grow as a brand and assist our customers with wardrobe essentials while achieving an excellent fit.

We look for people that want to wake up excited to work on something special in the apparel space, people that can't fall asleep because they keep coming up with ideas, people that want to work with a team to create and build something that is bigger than themselves.

We schedule all interactions with our customers as appointments and manage our time very efficiently, always asking ourselves what is the most important thing we should be working on right now. We're interested in being the best, building the best, and then standing behind what we offer with confidence.

Our company is complex and we offer a lot in the fashion industry: alterations, clothing, styling, manufacturing, inventory management, photography, fashion consulting, etc. We have multiple brands in our family: Arthur and Lucca, and NearWest Studio. In-turn, this creates a lot of opportunity to contribute to the team and help the organization as it grows.

Position Details

You will be working directly with company ownership to continue to build and develop the brand, sales, and operations in the following ways, and more:

Day-to-day: Assist with all phones and emails to communicate with customers, monitor our workflow and turn-around times, maintain our space, fit suits/shirts/dresses/bridal, sell custom suits and shirts.

Manage: Monitor our fitting appointment calendar and work with team for appropriate coverage, supervise all staff and ensure all processes are followed, lead all events held in our space, oversee the logistics of all garments, work on the continued development of SOP and training documentation.

Direct: Sales and outreach activities to increase brand awareness and revenue, assist with all marketing and advertising of the brand, contribute to the development of new styles and apparel types to offer customers, growth of the team.

Many aspects of your work will be performed completely independently.

Requirements:

This is a director level role and the technical requirements are specific and non-negotiable.

Hard Skills:

You must have an expert level understand of two of the following three topics, and intermediate or above in the other: selling custom clothing, formal and casual clothing alterations, bridal alterations.

Soft Skills:

You must be personable and able to talk to a wide variety of customers and leads to keep them engaged in our business, products, and services.

You must be able to think critically and creatively through new situations to independently arrive at the best solution, specifically through problems where there are no easy solutions.

You need to be an excellent communicator with both written and spoken word.

You MUST be focused on details and extremely organized, always deliberate in your actions.

You need to have an understanding of garment construction, we offer training but you must come in with the basics for all menswear and womenswear and have the ability to figure it out on your own.
