Senior Manager, Social Media Marketing

About the Social Media team

The Social Media marketing team is responsible for our national, social media brand presence (e.g., our @walmart handles). Our team�s mission is to help build and strengthen the Walmart brand through both compelling storytelling and authentic social interactions. Through our work, our team connects with consumers on an unprecedented scale. We�re looking for creative, forward thinking, and data-driven social media marketers to help shape social content and engagement for the world�s largest retailer at this pivotal moment in our company history.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as the social media lead for a specific topical content area (e.g., merchandising, community) and/or platform (e.g., Pinterest)
  • Develop strategies and plans for social media content (written, video, photo) across major social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Instagram Stories, Pinterest, YouTube and Snapchat
  • Serve as the team�s primary liaison to key business partners, keeping a pulse on major business activities that are relevant for social media while gathering critical business requirements for social content. Cross-functional business areas may include category marketing, seasonal marketing, brand marketing, stores & dotcom teams, store & site operations, media integrations, corporate affairs, PR, and others
  • Create and manage a content calendar that supports your topic area and/or platform
  • Develop compelling and engaging social activation plans, both in our owned channels and with influencers / media partners to deliver on business objectives while also meeting social media goals
  • Brief and work with our in-house creative team or agency partners on social media content and activations
  • Track and monitor progress of content development from concept through completion
  • Monitor the performance of your content and use it to inform new content streams, continuously evolving our social media strategy based on results and learnings
  • Report on results to business owners and other key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with media partners both in-house and at agencies to develop, launch, and measure media plans for content streams
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor�s Degree, with a minimum of 5 years creating content for social media, ideally for a major brand or company
  • Experience working with / briefing creative teams, with the ability to clearly articulate compelling social content ideas across channels that incorporate best practices in a channel-appropriate way
  • Track record of running successful marketing / social media campaigns with positive results at scale
  • Experience with and comfortable working with social media tools at-scale (e.g., posting, analytics, contests)
  • Be comfortable working in both nimble start-up environments and navigating large corporations
  • Passionate about great social content, engaging experiences, and authentic brand communications; Be up to date on latest social trends and conversations
  • Have a can-do, roll-up sleeves attitude
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment; Comfortable working with a remote team that spans several office locations
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Ability to write brand-appropriate post copy is a plus
  • Able to capture content yourself if needed is a plus (we�re scrappy!)
  • Experience with media planning and buying is a plus
  • Expertise with merchandising, brand or social good work, video content creation, social media influencers, SEO, or product is a plus (will vary based on specific roles)
  • � Ability and willingness to travel � and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, when needed
