Job Description
Arobas Personnel is looking for a MySQL database administrator for a position at one of our clients in Montreal.
What you will do:
Develop and support database replication
Monitor and optimize database performance and capacity planning.
Install, configure and upgrade of MYSQL databases.
Performance tuning of MYSQL databases
Develop methods for monitoring , proactively monitoring database performance and come up with suggestions
Data modeling (Logical and Physical) and architecture
Design and Implement various MYSQL backup/recovery strategies
Troubleshoot database issues, maintain database systems availability and scalability
Work as part of a team to provide 7x24 support as needed (will be on pager rotation)
Standardize the program environments to ensure that we have the same set of procedures and guidelines for developing queries and moving releases to production.
Participate in the application deployment and rollback process
Ensure we have monitoring scripts to track database configuration modifications
Investigate all User feedback/production issues in a timely manner and provide a recommendation to the development team.
Assess weaknesses of our current environment, recommend improvements to our database environments to help standardize and streamline the move to prod and support process
Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and Procedures.
Implement and maintain database security
Preventive maintenance
Setup and maintain documentation and standards
Do general technical troubleshooting and give consultation to development teams
Participate in Disk layout and Disk capacity planning
Set up and monitoring of data replication
Help Monitoring and maintenance of standby databases
Help design and develop tools for Database Services team
Perform Load testing.
Design and Deploy the database for the specific requirements, perform data migration
Lead Components of Projects/tasks
Identify Bottlenecks and provide solutions
Support Linux and Windows DB Servers, in production and other environments.
Will act as a project resource – research, testing, implementation, training etc.
Who you are:
University or college Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
5-8 years in DBA role. At least 4 years of MySQL DBA experience.
Certified MySQL DBA is a PLUS
Experience with Microsoft SQL DBA experience will have an added advantage.
Candidate should be senior technologist/DBA expert.
Knowledge/Skills:
Proven experience in supporting databases in production
Demonstrated experience with MySQL database design, implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Managing large scale database system is a PLUS
Familiar with MYSQL Administration including various storage engines.
Familiar with MYSQL client tools.
Experience in working with MYSQL technical support
Experience working with innodb
Strong experience in MYSQL replication and slave setup
Demonstrated experience with Open Source/Linux development and production environment
Solid experience in shell scripting, Coding Scripts, Procedures, functions, etc.
Excellent in OLTP Performance tuning
Able to work under pressure and multi-tasking capabilities
Strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills
Excellent in solving complex technical and business problems.
Team player. Ability to work within a team setting, Ability to share information with peers and transfer knowledge.
Ability to challenge ideas with experience and derive optimal solutions.
Strong knowledge of software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines/SLA agreements (On-time delivery, customer service, and quality of execution are key performance requirements)
