Design Engineer At Armtec-Canada Cilvert

Location: Cambridge, Ontario

Job Description

DESIGN ENGINEER

Reporting to the Development and Engineering Manager, the Design Engineer will provide professional engineering expertise for design of all components supplied by Armtec-Canada Culvert including soil-metal structures, steel bridges and retaining walls using established engineering department standards, specific order requirements and within current production capabilities. The Design Engineer will communicate closely with our associate departments and customers, evaluating and interpreting customer supplied information, technical drawings, specifications and requirements which includes formulating detailed economical solutions.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Civil Engineering degree program focusing on Geotechnical / Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer or eligible for registration with a provincial engineering association.
  • Additional consideration will be provided for a candidate who is technically bilingual in French and eligible for registration with the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (Quebec Professional Engineering Association).
  • Combinations of experience and relevant courses will also be considered.
  • Experience and knowledge in Geotechnical / Structural Analysis and Design, Highway Bridge Design Codes & Standards (Canadian & International) and Standard Industry Construction Practices are required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in geotechnical engineering, bridge design or soil-metal structure design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Engineering Design Software programs are a requirement.
    • Experience with geotechnical finite element analysis program such as PLAXIS.
    • Experience with structural analysis program such as SAP2000 will be an asset.
    • Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD will be an asset.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Above average mathematical skills; a strong, resourceful problem solver.
  • Attention to detail, time and priority management are necessary for success.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, continually adapt to change and work under pressure
