Tax Associate II At Armanino LLP

Location: San Jose, California

Job Description

TEAM UP WITH US!:[
The Tax Associate II plays an integral role in tax planning and compliance matters for the Firm’s clients. They are responsible for performing complex tax preparation, tax research and tax planning under general supervision. Each Tax Associate II is expected to be creative, analytical and collaborative. They should approach each assignment strategically with the goal of devising solutions and ensuring compliance for the Firm’s clients. This position also provides work direction and technical guidance to less experienced Associates.
]DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?:
  • Review and analyze client data and accurately prepare income tax returns and tax research
  • Review tax work of less experienced staff and provide constructive feedback. (if applicable)
  • Train, mentor and provide work direction to Staff I and interns.
  • Interact with clients to obtain pertinent information (if applicable)
  • Recognizes anticipate and resolve tax issues.
  • Assist supervisors in budgeting, billing, collections and other administrative functions. – don’t do billing (if applicable)
  • Meets productivity and efficiency standards (billable hours)
  • Understand assignments and follow instructions
  • Analyze cash transactions and brokerage statements (if applicable)
  • Create appropriate journal entries
  • Analyze client general ledgers in order to suggest reclassifications and adjustments
  • Reconcile retained earnings
  • Prepare clean and accurate workpapers
  • Apply depreciation methodology
  • Research and analyze specialized tax laws, rules and regulations, and analyze pertinent client, industry and technical matters
  • Learn each client’s business as it relates to a particular area or assignment
  • Continually update knowledge in order to remain current on tax legislation
  • Begin to recognize and take responsibility for flow of work assignments
  • Recognize when data is missing and exercise good judgment in obtaining it from the appropriate source
  • Be familiar with various tax preparation software, as well as, having a good understanding of other software
  • Follow policies and procedures addressed in the Human Resources Manual, as well as other Firm directives
  • Market firm services to existing and prospective clients (if applicable)
  • Assist with administrative activities when necessary

Required Education and Experience

1. Educational requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or an undergraduate or graduate degree with sufficient course work to achieve CPA certification upon passing the examination

2. Experience requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience working in public accounting or similar environment
  • Knowledge of research tools, tax code and regulations
  • An understanding of tax standards
  • Knowledge of accounting theory and federal, state and local tax laws
  • Works effectively in teams
  • Demonstrates flexibility
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Adept in the use of computer software, including Microsoft Office
  • Practice discretion and discernment in dealing with client and Firm matters
  • Develop positive working relationships with Firm and client personnel
