This is not your classic Senior Network Engineer role.
At Arkadin we're embracing routed IP Fabric design, infrastructure as code, orchestration & automation, white box hardware, BGP to the server, and zero trust networks. We're ditching complexity wherever we can in favor of the simple, robust, automatable, deterministic, reproducible, and rapidly deployable networks. We aren't hardcore coders but we use Python quite a bit to do work for us and we use a Git repository daily to save our work and review each other's work.
We're a small team that operates a large network. If you've ever felt like you're a cog in a big machine, you won't get that here. At Arkadin we need pillars, not cogs.
As a network expert at Arkadin, you will ensure the operational functionality of Arkadin's global network which covers data centers in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas. You will work with a team of highly skilled engineers that operate Arkadin's global IP backbone including all data center LANs and WANs. The Network team is also responsible for managing peering with IP transit providers around the world.
We are in the early phases of a major transformation of our networks. We're upgrading hardware, reducing complexity, and designing our networks so that the orchestration and automation tools do all the busy work for us. We are also be deploying IPv6 in all of our data centers with the first site live in March 2019.
To get where we're going we need engineers who know how to deal with legacy networks. The ideal candidate for this role can autonomously audit a network, understand the target design, and know how to get from one to the other. If you have automation and orchestration skills that's great. But if you don't then this is the perfect opportunity to learn what will soon be (or even already are) essential skills for any Network Engineer. This role is a great bridge between the Network Engineer skills of the past and the future.
