To plan implement, and evaluate departmental orientation and educational activities for Nursing personnel and monitor ongoing professional development of Nurses. Orientation Programme: - Planning, preparing & conducting the Nursing – Hospital Orientation Programme for Entrees (HOPE), ensuring the etiquette & following them in their respective units. - Designing, developing & maintaining the materials used in educational programme in relevant to target audience. - Coordinating with the Supervisors for organizing the Intensive as well as the functional training programme. - Assisting learners in assessment of training needs. On the Job training Programme: Internal Training: - Organizing & conducting Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programme to update their knowledge on the basis of their needs. - Coordinating & guiding the charge nurses for the unit-training programme. (Top 10 module) - Conducting specific training programme (BLS, ACLS, PALS &NALS) that benefit nurses at all stages in career development. - Producing educational materials & disseminating necessary information to the nurses and the other members of the
health care team. - Formulating the educational plan related to initial & ongoing competency validation - Providing formal and informal educational experience for nursing personnel. - Initiating, evaluating & revising the nursing plan in coordination with the Nurses. - Emphasizing to coordinate appropriate care, encompassing various healthcare personnel. - Guiding & supervising the staff on provision of appropriate care - Coordinating with the training cell & the nursing supervisors for the training programme. - Developing competence based programme for nursing staff, which focuses on improvement of skills & knowledge. - Preparing short & long term planning to identify the needs. - Assisting in improving the standards of delivery of care by active participation. External training: - Organizing and encouraging the nurses to participate and attend the Conferences, workshops and others according to their need. - Guiding nurses to practice/Implement the Nursing Modalities, which was Taught Documentation: - Maintaining the training records of the staffs respective to their area of work. - Maintaining proper documentation for the Educational activities. Other Activities: - Attending departmental meetings to identify the learning needs & plan training programme accordingly. - Organizing activities periodically to enhance team spirit & avoid burn out. (Weekly ‘get together’) - Maintaining inventory of books, equipment & teaching aids in the education department. - Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure - Participate in the hospital Quality Improvement Program; and monitor quality indicators. - Prepares and administers test, evaluates nurses progress, and maintains records Knowledge of: - Principles, procedures, methods and techniques of nursing and health care. - Modern practices and principles of medical disease counseling. - Basic management practices and principles. - Principles and procedures of medical record keeping. - Universal precautions and infection control practices. Ability to: - Demonstrates Teaching Skills. - Demonstrate leadership skills. - Maintain confidentiality. - Prepare clear and concise reports. - Dependable. - Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. - Apply basic time management and patient care coordination skills to provide effective nursing services. - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including service representatives and general public - To participate and contribute to departmental quality initiatives - To be aware of departments performance and objective. - To carryout data collection/support in data collection. - To adhere the safety norms of hospital and follow both patient safety and staff safety rules. - To perform any work as and when assigned by the superior.
