Sales Promotion and Trade Communications Manager - Toronto At Air Canada

This is a newly created position within the LATAM Sales Team designed to support the organization’s higher-level strategic priority of “Building an International Powerhouse” and more specifically, to develop, implement, and monitor Customer and Consumer Plans that ensure delivery of annual business results. This position will work closely with the LATAM local markets and interface regularly with Headquarters in Canada.

  • Provides input into Regional Director and HQ in determining overall region’s business strategy.
  • Leverages local market’s customer, competitive, and consumer insights to develop Sales and Marketing plans that build competitive advantage and deliver profitable growth and market share aligned to regional strategy.
  • Alongside the Regional Sales team, supports customer events and B2B marketing and ensures accurate communication of product, service, and initiative updates.
  • Co-develops new route launches with airport teams, local markets and relevant HQ teams.
  • Liaises with local markets to implement advertising, sales promotions, sponsorships, social media and digital programs.
  • Evaluates promotions; culminates and shares key learning; and provides recommendations on promotional spend and effectiveness.
  • Liaises with Air Canada HQ and collaborates on creative and strategic elements to support local marketing initiatives.
  • Ensures local marketing initiatives are compliant with Air Canada’s global marketing and online strategy.
  • Leverages and localizes existing marketing content and collateral to resonate with regional markets.
  • Ensures adherence to global brand communication standards in conjunction with HQ teams.
  • Oversees the review and approval process for advertising and media releases.
  • Provides input into the global e-commerce strategy and highlights e-commerce opportunities with HQ.
  • Manages AC.com local content and tactical campaign development to drive revenue growth.
  • Identifies and recommends Social Media opportunities with HQ.
  • Manages, analyzes, reports, and provides strategic rationale to the Sales Promotion & Trade Communication Spending for the entire region to Regional Director and HQ team.
  • Approves B2B/B2C investment mix given strategic direction.
  • Provides recommendations on promotional spend and effectiveness.
  • Liaises closely with Air Canada HQ International Sales Team HUB and provides input into planning, briefs, promotional evaluations, dashboards, Brand Communication Standards, and key learning.
  • Interfaces with AC Tourism and Strategic Global Partnerships Manager and external tourism partners to create cooperative sales and marketing programs.
  • Collaborates with multiple stakeholders across region and Headquarters (Marketing, Loyalty Programs, aircanada.com, Revenue Management, Corporate Communications, E-commerce, Network Planning, Sales Communications) and joint business partners to align strategy with global Air Canada positioning, and to plan.
  • Supports local Air Canada Commercial team by preparing promotional documents, product launches and power point sales presentations ensuring accurate communication of initiatives.
  • Works with the Regional Sales team, supporting customer events and B2B marketing; ensuring accurate communication of product, service, and initiative updates.
  • Oversees the review and approval process for advertising and media releases.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with marketing communications & promotions
  • Understanding of data protection and privacy laws
  • Understanding of the web production process, online performance & analysis
  • Previous experience managing events and coordinating activity
  • Experience in the airline industry or travel industry is preferred
  • All-round strategic skills with a thorough understanding of marketing campaign development
  • Experience in interactive and database marketing, loyalty program and consumer research techniques.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously with an enthusiastic approach to new challenges.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management across multiple departments, both internal and external, and within government agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of marketing and promotional material
  • Efficient computer literacy skills including; Power Point, Word, Excel, Publisher, Adobe
  • Highly analytical and able to proactively solve problems
  • Spanish fluency required
