Reporting to the Manager, Pricing Operations, this position is responsible for implementation, distribution and support all Air Canada’s commercial and corporate fares, brands and products to the appropriate distribution channels in support of achieving/exceeding corporate revenue targets. The Pricing Operations Manager is also responsible for analyzing business requirements and identifying solutions for implementing efficient and cost-effective fare solutions for new products while supporting the Manager, Pricing Operations continuous seeking to minimize the costs associated with fare distribution.
Manage and ensure Pricing Operations Specialists implement, monitor and adjust pricing levers such as pricing structures, fare simplification, seat sales, carrier-imposed fees, systems pricing activities/products, net product development and fare increase in order to further achieve the corporate revenue targets and strategic objectives established by the Pricing manager.
Review and troubleshoot operational issues of AC’s product display within the GDS and Online Booking Tools with further investigation and iterative solutioning when necessary
Develop and maintain markets and systems knowledge within area of responsibility in order to optimize products.
Oversee the day to day fares and ancillary activities (such as managing the integrity of the fare structure and ensure that fares are timely filed in the most cost-effective way and implementing post-audits of pricing actions) in order to maximize revenues for Air Canada.
Work together with Pricing, Ancillary and Sales to identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and process/automation improvements to the organization as a whole.
Facilitate, lead as required, the testing and transition of future implementation of new AC brand, fares and products.
Advise and collaborate with stakeholders in various branches (i.e. Revenue Management/Sales/Legal/Groups/Call Center/Airports/Accounting/Product Distribution, Information technology, E-Commerce) to define required fixes so as to minimize impact that may arise in a related area
Strategize, design and implement the distribution and selling of optional services (i.e. baggage, seat selection, pets, meal, upgrades, lounge, WIFI...), Brand products and specialized products (i.e. Aeroplan, ACV, flight pass, groups, airmiles, NTP and Promo/ZED fares).
Cooperate with airline partner(s) to ensure the development of an effective joint strategic fare plan should a Joint Venture exist
Manage a team of Pricing Operations Specialists and provide direction to ensure fare implementation strategies remain consistent with revenue management objectives.
Provide guidelines and tools to enable and support decision making and implementation of coding by the Pricing Operations Specialists.
Participate the creation, updating and delivering of pricing training modules to new RM/pricing employees.
Participate in industry communication and in working groups as required (i.e. ATPCO conference, CRS) to ensure functionality is developed to meet AC commercial and future fares needs.
Responsible to hire, train, manage and conduct performance reviews on a team of Pricing Operations Specialists.
University Degree or solid working experience in a relevant field (e.g. formal travel/tourism course or training program)
Experience in airline revenue management and in depth understanding of tariffs, rules and fare structure.
Proven ability to work under pressure, to multi-task, to prioritize and meet established timelines
Ability to work accurately at micro levels of detail.
Excellent problem-solving skills and strong analytical skills
Self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt to a constantly changing work environment.
Strong leadership skills in communication and team motivation.
Team player with ability to work independently.
Knowledge of RESIII, SABRE, Worldspan and Amadeus an asset.
Proficiency with PC applications, e.g. Excel.
