Reporting to the Senior Director, Employee Digital Enablement, this role will be responsible for leading the software development team and providing technical leadership throughout the full development lifecycle, end-to-end, from scoping, planning, conception, design, implementation and testing, to documentation, delivery and maintenance.
Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
Oversee the development of scalable, high-performing, and robust solutions.
Participate in business planning, product roadmaps, and business strategy discussions.
Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts, software architects, scrum masters and product owners to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain solutions.
Define and enforce technical standards for quality, maintainability, scalability, availability, and security.
Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
Develop, refine, and tune applications.
Manage the analysis and resolution of technical and applications issues.
Package and support deployment of releases.
Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties.
Define and adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.
Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent.
Experience: 5+ years in software development
Experience with modern programming languages and libraries (C#, Objective C, Swift, PHP, Node.js, Python, Java, .NET).
Real-world experience with mission-critical enterprise REST APIs (either as consumer or producer)
Experience with cross platform development using PAAS cloud systems.
Database / Data Storage experience (SQL / MySQL).
Strong skills and proven experience in full-stack software development, including design, implementation, and testing
Ability to effectively manage complex projects, clearly communicate status of projects to executive teams, and manage and triage many competing demands and priorities
Excellent analytical capabilities.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively function in a fast-paced environment.
Results oriented and deadline driven.
Cross platform development (Xamarin, Cordova, Phone Gap, React native)
Azure / AWS / BlueMix
CD / CI (Continuous deployment / continuous integration)
Graphics engines (Unity, DirectX)
Familiarity with Git/Visual Studio Team Services
SharePoint Online development
Experience working on fast-paced agile dev / product team an asset.
Work in Scrum and Kanban an asset.
