As part of the Financial Analysis group, this position will be primarily responsible for project-based work scope. The individual will have ownership of the financial evaluation of projects from beginning to end and be involved with senior management and/or executive discussions when required.

  • Develop a strong understanding of all cost areas related to the airline’s operations, as well as overall airline strategy.
  • Develop complex financial models and act as Finance representative in support of senior management in key decisions related to fleet composition, Tier II, multibillion dollar fleet renewal programs.
  • Work with all levels of the Commercial group, responsible for all finance matters related to aircraft deployments, new route services, and joint ventures.
  • Develop working relationship with potential airline partners in building a framework for these agreements
  • Work with various client groups, both within the Finance branch and across the company, to guide, develop and/or improve business decision-making processes, models and tools.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of activities/issues/trends pertaining to the airline industry domestically and internationally, as well as aircraft economics.
  • Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis using various statistical and forecasting/ simulation/ optimization tools and techniques.
  • Perform complex benchmarking studies with other carriers.
  • Ensure a consistently high-level of quality in service provided relative to both timeliness and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Graduate studies (MBA or Master in Finance or Economics) and/ or an accounting designation (CPA/CMA/CGA /CFA) would be a definite asset.
  • Flexible work schedule and ability to handle numerous and varied projects simultaneously.
  • Be curious and have keen interest and experience in the airline industry.
  • Very strong business and analytical skills.
  • Excellent understanding of cost accounting principles, financial evaluation techniques and statistical analysis.
  • Strong sense of initiative and work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to shift priorities and work under pressure.
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office. In particular, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Programming skills (VBA, SQL, Matlab, Lingo, C++) would be a definite asset.
